Sofia Carson Has Teamed-Up With Grey On Their New Single “Grey Area”

Disney Descendants star, Sofia Carson, features on Grey’s awesome new single “Grey Area”. This isn’t the first time she has teamed up with DJs, she’s previously released songs with Alan Walker, Galantis, and R3hab. This single release follows up Grey’s song “Criminal” and Sofia Carson’s feature on Galantis’ track “San Francisco” as well as her features on the Disney Descendants 3 soundtrack.

Grey are an American production DJ duo consisting of brothers Kyle and Michael Trewartha. They launched on to the scene collaborating with Hailee Steinfeld on the single “Starving”, which also featured Zedd – who has mentored this duo. This track charted internationally and saw them go on to remix songs by the likes of Zedd, Selena Gomez, Troye Sivan, Lukas Graham, Mike Posner, Andy Grammar, and Ariana Grande. Just last year they went viral again collaborating with Zedd on the song “The Middle” which featured Maren Morris, charting globally. They’ve also worked with the likes of Avril Lavigne, Léon, Robinson, Skött, and Frances. They’re definitely a DJ duo set to have a fantastic career, keep your eye on them in the coming years.

As for Sofia Carson, she’s best known for playing the daughter of The Evil Queen, known as Evie, in the Disney Descendants franchise. She is also known for being in the 2016 television film Adventures In Babysitting and she also starred in the most recent film from the A Cinderella Story franchise, titled If The Shoe Fits. Lately, you can see her in one of the leading roles of the Pretty Little Liars spin-off The Perfectionists. On the music side, she’s released a bunch of singles with her debut single being a cover of the Descendants song “Rotten To The Core”, her follow-up track – which was released both as a solo track and as a track featuring J Balvin – titled “Love Is The Name” charted well in Poland and the US Latin Pop charts. Many singles have been released, with her collaboration with R3hab, titled “Rumors“, charting at number 10 in Poland. Back in 2016, she revealed she was working on an album – it may be a long wait until her debut album but we cannot wait for the day it is released. As we wait, her Descendants co-star Dove Cameron, is dropping music too and gearing up to release her debut album.

This new single, according to Spotify, has been written by Caroline Ailin, Jarrad Rogers, Kyle Trewartha, Michael Trewartha, and Trey Campbell. It was produced by Grey and Jarrad Rogers. A music video has been confirmed by Sofia Carson, and we expect it to be dropped in the coming days.

Unsurprisingly, Sofia Carson impresses from the very start with her brilliant vocals, easily connecting with the song and telling its story. Her voice is one that stands out for all the right reasons on the Descendants soundtracks and so we’re excited to see where her singing career takes her. Grey impresses on the backing track giving a slow beat to accompany the verse before bringing an addicting drop during the chorus, matching Sofia Carson’s awesome voice. Kyle Trewartha takes on the second verse, giving it a spin we didn’t expect, leading into a beautiful harmony for the rest of the song. The lyrics paint a story of lovers who aren’t sure if they’re a thing or just having fun together, but they’ve got to the point where they want to find out one way or another as what they’ve got going on isn’t working for them anymore, so are they together or are they going to go their separate ways?
