It’s only been a week since we started blasting ‘360’ on repeat, but George Shelley has already treated us all to more new music with the release of the 2nd track from his debut solo project.
The track, titled ‘Soldier’, premiered on Vevo this morning, but will be available to download and stream throughout the day, and is part of the singers “Originals” project – a series of 6 songs written and co-produced by the singer, with accompanying music videos that he both edited and directed himself!
In an introductory video to the song, George Shelley describes the song as “an evolution of the first song I ever wrote”, and tells the story of his older brother, who left home to join the marines.
“I really liked the sentiment, so I decided to rework it and make it more mature.” he said about the song, which he started working in 2013.
“Soldier” is stylistically similar to the Shelley’s first solo song “360”, though the new track is more acoustic and relays more heavily on Shelley’s guitar playing to provide melody.
The release became the number one trending topic on Twitter, and saw Shelley inundated with messages of support, with particular praise being given toward the songs lyrics and Shelley’s own song writing skills, having shown that to be a bit of a hidden talent of his with the first two “Originals” releases.
Earlier this week, Shelley took to Twitter to circulate a casting call for the sixth and final video of his “Originals” project, titled “Prove Me Wrong”, which will be released on Christmas Day as the culmination of the project.
