The ominous, brooding landscapes combined with moody vocals create an utterly spine-tingling feel. Our strong desires can seem as if they are ghosts haunting us, near but just out of our reach. Lines like, “What haunts you the most, my unlived life” remind us that one day we will be gone and what will we have to show for it? That notion preoccupies many people’s minds, making the penetrating piece eerily relatable. “Night Terrors won’t take me tonight”, is another powerful lyric that prompts us to not get swallowed up by our anxiety.
The masterful duo is made up of Luc Laurent and Kathryn Baar. The twosome is known for songs that are just as dark and stunningly soulful as “Holy Hells” and “Beginnings and Endings”. Their rich, genre-defying releases keep the listener intensely captivated from start to finish. Just in time for Halloween, “Night Terrors” is the ideal spooky track to get us in the spirit. The pair shows you that it is not only ghouls and creepy crawlers that ignite our fright. Our everyday worries that keep us up at night can be equally as alarming. “Night Terrors” is off of their highly anticipated debut album Diving Into the Arms of the Divine out November 15th via Sierra Bonita Records.
