Spencer Sutherland has become the first contestant to be eliminated from ‘The X Factor,’ following his performance of Jessie J’s ‘Who You Are.’
Despite receiving some constructive criticism from Judge Sharon Osbourne, on the whole, the remaining Judges – Nicole Scherzinger and mentor Louis Walsh – provided praise to Spencer, impressed with his vocals.
Simon Cowell was absent from the Live Show as he injured himself. It is not yet confirmed as to whether he will be well enough to judge on Sunday evening’s Live Show.
Spencer was quick to show his appreciation to all those on the show, including his mentor Louis Walsh, also thanking the public for taking him ‘in with open arms.’
In a new twist on this year’s show, there is no deadlock, Judges’ decision, or sing-off. The decision as to the contestants who go through to the next round and who leaves the competition lies solely with the public.
On the first Live Show, the Boys and Girls were up against one another. Two of the four wildcards Leon Mallett and Alisah Bonaobra also performed on Saturday’s show and have progressed to next week’s show.
Further, as another twist, the most popular contestant as voted for by the public was won by Grace Davies, who will go up against Sunday’s most popular contestant to win a prize to see Pink live in New York and spend time with her backstage.
Liam Payne also exclusively performed his most recent single ‘Bedroom Floor’ on the show.
‘The X Factor’ continues on Sunday 29 October on ITV at 7 pm.
