Grime sensation and multi award-winning British MC, Stormzy, has been announced as the headline act at Glastonbury 2019.
Stormzy – also known as Big Mike, The Problem, Stiff Chocolate and his birth name, Michael Omari – is the first headline act announced for the festival and will be closing the show on the Pyramid stage on Friday, June 28th 2019.
The singer, rapper and grime artist rose to fame on YouTube sharing his ‘Wicked Skengman’ freestyle.
He started off making road rap but found pure enjoyment in making grime music.
In an interview with Complex, he admitted:
“For a long time, though, I didn’t get the whole road rap thing.
“I thought it was too slow, and sounded too American.
”But I felt like I needed to adapt to it and I needed to jump on it because that’s what was happening.”
The 25 year old is famous for his hit songs, Shut Up, Big For Your Boots and Blinded By Your Grace which is featured on his number one debut studio album.
He has won many awards including ‘British Male Solo Artist’ and ‘Album of the Year’ at the BRIT Awards in 2018 and he even stole the show at the MOBO’s in 2017, winning three awards.
Not only does he rap, the 6”5 artist made his acting debut as Yardz in Brotherhood; the final installment of The Hood trilogy.

They tweeted;
“We are so excited that @GlastoFest decided to announce their first headliner, #Stormzy, in our Streatham and #Glastonbury shops today!
