Supergirl has finally found its Superman; Teen Wolf fan favourite Tyler Hoechlin has been cast to play the role of Clark Kent in Season 2 of the action-adventure drama. The Greg Berlanti-produced drama is making the transition from CBS to The CW when it returns this fall.
“Greg and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman,” said executive producer Andrew Kreisberg says. “We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.”
Tyler will join the cast alongside Melissa Benoist, Mehcad Brooks, Calista Flockhart, Jeremy Jordan, Chyler Leigh and many others.
Fans were thrilled to hear that Hoechlin will be playing the role of Superman and took to Twitter to express their excitement.

Tyler is most commonly known as Derek Hale from teen drama Teen Wolf, which he recently left because ‘he wanted more time to pursue movies’. He also recently appeared in ‘Everybody Wants Some!!’ alongside Blake Jenner – the husband of Melissa Benoist who plays Supergirl in the CW drama. He is also set to appear in the upcoming British action thriller film, Stratton:First Into Action, alongside Tom Felton and Dominic Cooper.
Supergirl returns Mondays this fall at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
