Hitting out at the many toxic people in the music industry, TANDM uses their experiences with being taken advantage of, in the past, for their incredible new diss track, titled “2quick2trust”. The track is a stunning indie-pop-rock song that brings a unique and signature sound to the table, unlike anything we’ve heard all year, and we absolutely love it. The track is accompanied by an iconic comic-strip-like music video that is a total must-watch! “2quick2trust” acts as the follow-up to TANDM’s previous single “The Man in the Sea”.
TANDM, the captivating Toronto duo comprised of Maxine Beck-Sinderby on vocals and guitar, and Thomas Franklin on drums, effortlessly crafts enchanting indie-pop tunes that transcend time and genre. Their sweet simplicity contrasts with their depth which resonates with listeners on a profound level. United by a unique creative chemistry since their mid-teens, TANDM debuted in 2018 with “Dreamworld”, showcasing their dulcet vocal style, sparse yet seductive instrumentation, and a subtle blend of influences ranging from Alvvays to Regina Spector and even Vampire Weekend. With their upcoming EP, “Sirens”, TANDM presents their most engaging and enveloping work to date. Polished and elevated, the rhythms are entrancing, drawing listeners into a warm dreamlike world of stirring melodies and fearless vocals. TANDM’s artistry flourishes in this next phase, captivating fans with their label-defying sound that delicately weaves together bittersweet personal narratives and the conflicts of young adulthood. As their whimsical yet substantial music reaches further around the world, TANDM invites audiences to immerse themselves in the enchanting universe they create.
“When we started TANDM, our kindness, generosity, and innocence was taken advantage of, and that put us in a really bad place for confidence and trust in the music industry,” explains frontwoman Maxine Beck-Sinderby. “This track is a confident clap back at those who have wronged us in the past, proving that all they were to us was ‘nameless’ and ‘song material’.”

Written by Maxine Beck-Sinderby and Thomas Franklin, “2quick2trust” is an indie-pop-rock diss track like no other, it’s highly conceptual with TANDM hitting out at the people in the music industry that did them wrong. Hard-cutting lyrics that are warped around an alternative pop rhythm and delivered with passionate vocals, TANDM are making a statement with “2quick2trust”. Hooking the listeners in with a catchy chorus, all the while Maxine Beck-Sinderby takes us on a journey as the story-telling lyrics discuss how someone from the music industry took their work and used it and still faded. A personal, honest, and truthful story which is an awful experience to go through and we’re so glad to hear that TANDM came out on top whereas a lot of other artists who go through a similar thing may not resolve their issues; the track inspires listeners especially the ones who are artists and have dealt with toxicity in the music industry. TANDM have gone all out for this track and have showcased who they are and their incredible signature sound.
As for the music video, directed by Maxine Beck-Sinderby and Akash Jones, whilst it has been illustrated by Evelyn Lougheed and animated by Akash Jones, we watch a comic-strip animated visual where a princess decides to escape the castle she’s locked away in. She finds the castle map, distracts the guard, takes the keys, frees the large giant snake, and just as she gets to the door, a knight is standing there telling her he’s come to rescue her – but she rescued herself. He takes her to the town and reveals to the town people that he rescued the princess and when she says she rescued herself, no one believes her. That is, until the giant snake comes along and reveals she’s telling the truth, to which the princess and the giant snake go travelling across water – with the snake looking like the Loch Ness Monster (Nessie) – while the townspeople go after and hunt the knight. An intricate and clever storyline that effortlessly relates to the lyrics of the song whilst also championing female empowerment and self-belief. Not to mention that Evelyn Lougheed has created awesome illustrations, she has an incredible art style and completely engages the viewers making us back the princess from the get-go.
