Taylor Swift just released her music video for her single, “You Need to Calm Down” and it is EVERYTHING! The video first premiered on Good Morning America and is now available on YouTube.
The video features a star-studded cast, much like her “Bad Blood” music video did, including Ellen DeGeneres, Laverne Cox, Adam Lambert, Hayley Kiyoko, the cast of “Queer Eye,” Adam Rippon, Todrick Hall, Ryan Reynolds, Ciara, and many more.
The video opens with Swift in her trailer waking up and making a smoothie. When she walks outside we get major “Look What You Made Me Do’ vibes with the fire behind her.
It goes into Swift walking around the RV park, lounging in her pool, on a chair, and seeing all of her neighbors, who are mostly members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his real-life husband, Justin Mikita, reenact their wedding, where Ciara is officiating.
Then Swift is seen walking down the park with amazing pink and blue hair.
The video then goes into protesters with their signs and everyone in the community is living their life and ignoring the haters. They are having tea parties, getting tattoos, and living their best lives, as they should be.
We did notice that when Adam Lambert is tatting up Ellen that her ink says Cruel Summer. Could that be the next single?
Then, the video portrays drag queens who are dressed up as “all the girls who are killing it”- Swift, Ariana Grande, Adele, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Katy Perry, Cardi B, and Nicki Minaj. Ru Paul hands out the crown and then it goes into a free for all- a food fight breaks out.
Finally, the biggest and most epic surprise of all was Katy Perry’s appearance. Perry was dressed as a burger, much like her Met Gala look, and Swift was dressed as French Fries, making the perfect Happy Meal. We are so happy they are friends again. Now, collab ladies!
We are sure there were many Easter Eggs left behind because Swift is a genius but for now, just enjoy the epicness that this video is.
