Apparently, there is going to be a movie about the computer game Tetris!
The actual Tetris Company have teamed up with Threshold Entertainment and they have finally reportedly pulled enough funding together to make the project come to life.
“The project is eyed as an $80 million China-U.S. co-production under Threshold Global Studios, a new banner formed by Bruno Wu and producer Larry Kasanoff” Deadline reported.
The storyline has been talked out in full details between the two companies for over a year now.
The film is going to be filmed in China and various other locations next year with a Chinese cast. It is going to be a sci-fi thriller and Kasanoff says that it is “not at all what you think; it will be a cool surprise.“
Not only that, the film is going to be the first in a trilogy!
There is no reason to suggest that this film won’t work what with the big opening of The Angry Birds Movie this past weekend. Warcraft is upcoming as well as Assassin’s Creed which features Michael Fassbender.
Tetris has been a very popular game for over three decades and has apparently been downloaded over 500 million times on mobile phones. The concept sounds mad but it might just work!
