Following on from the world’s first look at the movie yesterday, the official first trailer for CATS has been unveiled and it’s purr-ty remarkable to say the least.
Directed by Oscar®-winning director Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech, Les Misérables), the iconic Andrew Lloyd Webber stage musical has been transformed into a magical and Alice in Wonderland-esque production for the silver screen.
The trailer gives us the first look at our star studded cast in all their fur-nery, including Taylor Swift, James Corden, Jason Derulo, Jennifer Hudson, Rebel Wilson, Idris Elba, Dame Judi Dench, and Sir Ian McKellan. Royal Ballet principal dancer Francesca Hayward also makes her feature film debut.
Whilst the trailer offers glimpses of drama and hilarity, the standout moment is without doubt the snippet of Jennifer Hudson’s pitch purrfect rendition of ‘Memory’. It’s mew-sic to our ears!
The trailer is both mesmerising yet pawsitively terrifying, thanks to the cutting edge technology which has turned all of our favourite celebrities into actual felines.

CATS is based on the classic musical which tells the story of a tribe of cats known as the Jellicle Cats who meet for the Jellicle Ball every year. At each ball, Old Deuteronomy, the leader of the tribe, chooses one cat to ascend to the Heaviside layer to be reborn and return to a new life.
The musical is one of the longest-running shows in West End and Broadway history, notching up a 21 and 18 year stint respectively. It has also won numerous Olivier and Tony Awards and over the years has played to 81 million people in more than fifty countries and in nineteen languages.
CATS purrs its way into cinemas on December 20.
