The annual Mercury Music Prize has unveiled its shortlist for 2018. The list features Noel Gallagher, Arctic Monkeys, Florence + the Machine, Lilly Allen, Wolf Alice.

Even though Arctic Monkeys make a triumphant return, earn their fourth nomination for Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino and become the second most-nominated act in the prize’s history, this time it is women who take the lead, with nominations for Florence + the Machine, Lilly Allen, Wolf Alice.

This year’s nominees were chosen by a judging panel of 12 experts judges featuring broadcaster and DJ Clara Amfo, jazz musician Jamie Cullum, singers Lianne La Havas, Marcus Mumford, Ella Eyre, and music critics Will Hodgkinson and Harriet Gibsone.
The shortlist was selected from over 200 albums entered for the prestigious music award, narrowed down to 12 after months of listening.
The Awards Show will be held at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith on September 20th, 2018 and will feature live performances from many of the 12 shortlisted artists.
