Following the release of their new single ‘Better’ earlier this month, The Vamps have released a ‘Blossom Sessions’ video for the track.
The Blossom Sessions version of ‘Better’ is a stunning stripped back take on the track which was written by Brad Simpson with Svante Halldin, Jakob Hazell and Peter Rycroft. Brad’s vocals take centre stage leading on the track, accompanied by soft guitars from James McVey and Connor Ball with additional synth beats provided by Tristan Evans.
Lyrics including ‘Did things get better or did we get used to it?‘ provide the listener with a chance to think, adapting it to many personal situations which they may be experiencing. Throughout listeners are reminded of the important key message of the track; ‘I won’t settle for less than best‘, something which we may all forget at times despite how important it is. Now we have an incredibly catchy track to remind us of this message thanks to The Vamps.
Speaking about the track, Brad explains “Better is a song set in the context of a relationship, about not settling for less than you feel you deserve. Falling out of love but not forgetting the reason you fell into it and working hard to get back there. It has a wider meaning though, the main lyric being “I won’t settle for less than best” is a mantra that can be applied to anyone at any point in their life, whether it is in a relationship or whether it’s fulfilling your personal potential, you should always be striving to be and do the best you can.“
He continues “The track leans to a bit more 80’s in the production, but keeps the dirtier drum and guitar sounds that we have across the whole album. It’s so exciting for us to be showing more and more of what Cherry Blossom explores sonically and thematically, this is a band favourite off the album.“
‘Better’ is taken from the quartet’s forthcoming fifth studio album Cherry Blossom. It follows the release of singles ‘Married In Vegas‘ and ‘Chemicals‘ which both bold, sing-along choruses. A music video for ‘Better’ which was directed by Jordan Rossi has also been released and can be seen below. Be sure to watch the video right until the very end.
