The Weeknd and Coldplay are the latest artists confirmed to perform at The BRIT Awards 2021, which is set to take place on May 11.
Coldplay will be opening this year’s ceremony with a performance on a pontoon on the Thames near The O2. This UK exclusive marks their first TV performance in over a year, and will follow the release of their brand new single ‘Higher Power’ which drops this Friday (May 7).
The band last performed at The BRITs in 2017 with The Chainsmokers and currently hold the title of the most nominated group, with 28 nominations in total and nine award wins.
Following a sensational year, including earning the UK’s biggest track of 2020 with ‘Blinding Lights’, global superstar The Weeknd will be delivering an exclusive performance which is to be filmed remotely due to current restrictions.
The Weeknd last performed at the ceremony in 2016 and is currently nominated for International Male Solo for the third time.
They will be joining the previously announced performers: Olivia Rodrigo, Arlo Parks, Dua Lipa, Headie One, Rag’n’Bone Man & P!nk with the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust Choir, and Rising Star 2021 award winner Griff.
This year’s BRIT Awards will take place on May 11 at The O2 Arena, London. Hosted by comedian and actor Jack Whitehall, the ceremony will be broadcast exclusively on ITV and ITV Hub. It will also be the first major indoor music event to welcome back a live audience as part of the Government’s scientific Events Research Programme, with 2500 tickets being gifted to frontline heroes.
Dua Lipa, Joel Corry, Arlo Parks, Celeste, and Young T & Bugsey lead this year’s nominations with three nods each. Other artists who have received nominations include Little Mix, Harry Styles, and Jessie Ware.
