TLC Announce Their First Ever UK Show

US girl group TLC have announced plans for a one-off concert in London.

The show, which takes place on May 9th at KOKO London, will be the bands first ever gig in the UK.

Tickets go on sale this Friday, March 24th.

TLC, made up of Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, first hit the music scene back in 1992 with the release of the debut album ‘Ooooooooh… On The TLC Tip’.

With their street style, sassy lyrics and “new jack swing” sound, TLC were an instant hit in America scoring three top-ten singles on the Billboard Hot 100 with ‘Ain’t Too Proud To Beg’, ‘Baby-Baby-Baby’ and ‘What About Your Friends’.

It was the bands second album though that saw the girls make it big all around the world.

Featuring hits such as ‘Creep’, ‘Red Light Special’ and ‘Waterfalls’, ‘CrazySexyCool’ went onto sell 23 million copies worldwide.

‘CrazySexyCool’ was named Best R&B Album of The Year at the 1996 Grammy Awards, with standout track ‘Waterfalls’ voted Video of The Year at the 1995 MTV Video Music Awards, making TLC the first black artists to ever win the award.

In the midst of their success, TLC filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy declaring debts totalling $3.5 million.

Four years later, the girls were back with their third album, 1999’s ‘FanMail’.

Stronger, sassier and even more in control before the girls released two of their biggest hits, ‘No Scrubs’ and ‘Unpretty’, both of which went to number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 2002, Lisa ‘Left-Eye’ Lopes was tragically killed in a car crash in Honduras.

In 2015, TLC launched a Kickstarter to help fund their new album.

Endorsed by celebrities like Katy Perry, the campaign raised over $400,00 and remains the most-funded campaign in the company’s history.

The as-yet untitled album is due to be released this summer.
