Cartoons were an important part of just about everyone’s childhood. Many breakfasts have been had over a comical episode of Tom and Jerry. Many of us have even been scolded by watching cartoons all day long instead of studying or working. As every generation grows old and priorities change, less time is devoted to cartoons; but that does not mean that these cartoons have been forgotten. Here’s paying a tribute to some of the most watched cartoons of every child’s childhood.
7. Dennis The Menace
Dennis, along with his best friend and his pet dog were always a menace to his neighbour. His naughtiness was the comical relief to the entire show. No one can forget his ever angry and complaining neighbour, as well.
6. Spongebob Squarepants
SpongeBob was a fictional sponge known as SpongeBob Square pants. He lived in the bottom of the Pacific Ocean and had an unusual knack for attracting trouble. SpongeBob has always attracted children for its comical storyline. In fact, many SpongeBob merchandises have also gained popularity.
5. Courage The Cowardly Dog
Quite contrary to the name of the dog, Courage, he was remembered as a cowardly dog. This series was set in a house situated in the middle of nowhere, where each episode had supernatural and eerie happenings. In the end of the day, the cowardly dog was praised for saving the day.
4. Dexter’s Laboratory
Can anybody forget the brilliant super-kid Dexter who ran a secret laboratory in his room? Or his annoying elder Dee Dee with her pink dresses and ponytails who always made a mess within Dexter’s lab? This science fiction show caught the attention of very many children. And who knows, it may have been successful in creating some budding scientists!
3. The Powerpuff Girls
Life is not always full of ‘sugar, spice and everything nice’ but it is always good to look back to our childhood days when these three young ladies were some of the first cartoon girl superheroes. Their individual personalities were so different from one another, and yet they came together in order to deliver justice to those in need. Their attacks and punches will be long remembered even after they are gone.
2. Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!
The lovable Great Dane and his group of detective friends were a must for most children every weekend morning. The sing-song tagline ‘Scooby Dooby Doo Where are you?’ will not easily be wiped out of our minds for a long time. Scooby-Doo, along with his best friend and owner Shaggy, and friends Daphne, Velma and Freddy were always ready to hop onto the Mystery Machine and solve any case that appeared in front of them. Scooby-Doo has also been adapted into various movies and television series spin-offs.
1. Tom and Jerry
No matter how old we grow, Tom and Jerry will never grow old in our minds. We believe the series truly deserves to hold the first position in this countdown. This cat and mouse comical rivalry was loved by children before us and would continue to enthral children after us. In true sense, one can call them the immortals of the cartoon world
