Yesterday, singer-songwriter Tori Kelly wrote an original song called “Blink of an Eye”, dedicated to Christina Grimmie. Christina was shot and killed at a fan meetup after her concert in Orlando, Florida on June 10th. One month after the tragedy, it’s clear that there is still grief and sadness surrounding her loss, and that Christina is still in our thoughts and prayers.
Tori said that the song was challenging to write, even with the help of her friend Zac Poor. However, it was something she felt she needed to do. In times like these, music can be the best form of therapy for grief and an outlet for confused emotions.
The lyrics are raw and emotional, and Tori said they can apply to all of the tragic losses of life around the world recently.
More recently I’m overwhelmed at the pain & brokenness in the world today, & so this is really just me grieving. at all of it. life is so short.
The song inspires a new perspective on life, and just how precious it is, especially with these lyrics:
When you took your last breath / You had so much life left / Can’t help but think it could’ve been me out there / Chasing a dream when suddenly it all stops in a heartbeat.”
Tori and Christina were good friends, and both are extremely talented singers. In fact, Christina tweeted Tori a couple days before her death. Tori was devastated by the loss, but said: “I am still comforted knowing that I’ll get to see her again someday in heaven.”

Justin Bieber took notice of Tori’s song, and tweeted her yesterday, complimenting her vocal talents. Justin recently paid tribute to Christina and the victims of the shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando at one of his concerts.

This tribute joins countless others who have commemorated Christina, and the victims of the shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando that happened shortly after. Justin Bieber, twenty one pilots, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas, are just some artists to dedicate a song to Christina at their concerts.
Tori left this bible quote at the end of the video description, leaving us on a note of comfort and peace.
