Prepare to be whisked away on a dreamy sonic adventure with Lo Lauren’s glittering new EP, ‘Wonderlust’.
Over six shimmering tracks, the rising pop icon explores the electric allure of love, self-discovery, and the intoxicating pull of the unknown… all set to an irrepressible disco beat – what’s not to love?
In this EXCLUSIVE feature, Lo breaks down the lyrical meaning and inspiration behind each of the songs featured on the project! Check out what she has to say below…
WONDER
‘Wonder’ is like popping candy to me – fizzy, exciting and nostalgic !! It’s the ultimate feel good summer song – roof down, hair blowing in the wind, main character energy – and it was the song that started it all. The blueprint for ‘Wonderlust’.
BEFORE THE KISS
‘Before The Kiss’ is two minutes of pure lust! I have always loved the moment before you’re about to kiss someone – those couple of seconds of anticipation for what’s about to unfold, and so really wanted to recreate it in a song… voila here she is!
BORN TO RUN
‘Born To Run’ is about my feelings of ambition, need for drive and constant battle of prioritising ‘real life’ vs my dreams. It takes a lot of sacrifice and can sometimes lead to you running away from things that are good for you, which is really hard.
ROSE & JACK
‘Rose & Jack’ is probably the most meaningful and honest song I’ve released so far, and my first ballad!! It’s about the struggle of hiding your feelings for someone, the pain of not being able to openly celebrate your love and the frustration of keeping it in the shadows. It’s nice to share something minimal, emotional and more stripped back, with a heavy focus on the songwriting that shows a more vulnerable side to me. So I hope it gets people in their feels as much as it does for me!
WOULD IT BE SO BAD
‘Would It Be So Bad’ is like the devil on your shoulder, prodding you to think bad thoughts, like – “maybe I should get with my friend???” FYI the answer to that question / thought is always no! Alas sometimes we get a little drunk and a little horny and that’s what happens! It’s carefree, fun and we wrote it in the middle of Soho on a Saturday night, so I feel like that promiscuous, late night (lowkey drunk) energy pulses through.
