Four years after the nation was shook by the sudden death of Amy Winehouse, the trailer for the upcoming documentary entitled ‘Amy’ has been released.
The 2 hour biopic is set to hit screens on the 3rd of July. Directed by BAFTA winner, Asif Kapadia, the film strives to depict Amy’s life and success. Compiled entirely of home videos and stage performances the trailer is voiced with interviews taken throughout the star’s career. A post featured on the films official Facebook page describes Amy as, ‘a once in a generation talent’, stating ”This is an incredibly modern, emotional and relevant film that has the power to capture the zeitgeist and shine a light on the world we live in, in a way that very few films can.”
The harrowing trailer ends with Amy’s declaration, ‘I don’t think I’m going to be at all famous, I don’t think I could handle it’ acting as a precursor to the stars heavily publicized demise.
