Twenty One Pilots have surprised fans with a re-imagined version of their most recent single ‘Chlorine’ in the first of their new Location Sessions.
The title of the acoustic – ‘Chlorine (19.4326° N, 99.1332° W)’ – contains coordinates that locate a square in the centre of Mexico City. Twenty One Pilots’ Bandito Tour was recently in Mexico at the beginning of May, so it’s possible this recreation was recorded there. With that knowledge, we can assume that the duo could be releasing re-imagined songs from Trench that were recorded in different cities they’ve toured in while on the road. If our assumptions are correct, and with the audio from their previous Sleeper series to go on, we’re in for a treat!
Whilst the original version of ‘Chlorine’ has a smooth, upbeat vibe with a haunting, atmospheric outro, this rendition sees the track in a new light. Stripped-back to its bare acoustics, and accompanied by Tyler’s raw, emotion-filled vocals, fans are able to gain a whole other meaning to the song.

Twenty One Pilots only have a handful of dates left on the Bandito tour, which concludes on the 30th June at the Nationwide Arena in their hometown of Columbus, Ohio. Tyler and Josh aren’t slowing down anytime soon though, as they’re on the bill for a number of festivals across Europe and the US. If you want to catch the duo over summer, they’ll be performing at Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival, Sziget Festival, Pukkelpop Belgium and Reading and Leeds Festival, to name a few. Full tour dates and festival appearances can be found here.
