The fifth day of New York fashion week coincided with the 15th anniversary of the September 11th attacks and kicked off just minutes from the spot upon which the Twin Towers once stood. That’s where Victoria Beckham presented her Spring/Summer 2017 collection.
Attendees, including Anna Wintour, David Beckham and Victoria’s son Brooklyn, were greeted with a minute silence held in order to commemorate the moment at which the first tower fell. A second silence, marking the falling of the other tower, followed soon after.
One of the most recognisable designers in the world had all eyes on her items as she unveiled her new collection. Speaking about the collection, it featured a number of traditional fabrics given a totally fresh twist, cute summer dresses, and more revealing numbers.
The designer who arrived at the event wearing a baggy white shirt, stone-coloured trousers and a thick black belt tied around her hips has previously mentioned that she creates comfortable clothes for contemporary women and has never been all about fashion trends.
“It always starts with the clothes I want to wear, the clothes I think women around me want to wear”
“I wanted it to feel looser, easier, softer, because that’s what I’m seeing right now. That´s what feels relevant”.
