Rock band The Glorious Sons has shared a cover of Kanye West’s hit single “Runaway” on their YouTube channel. The group filmed the video at Fiction Studios, a library-turned-recording studio, when they visited London, UK in December. It is the first of a series of stripped down videos to be released over the upcoming weeks.
The cover showcases frontman Brett Emmons’ raw and earnest vocals, who says the group got the idea of covering “Runaway” from member Chris Koster [guitar, vocals], who according to Emmons, is a “gigantic Kanye fan.”
Emmons says, “We played it in a church once together, and my voice just kind of worked with the song. I can remember listening to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and watching the short film all the time in university. It is by far my favorite Kanye album. I had never heard rap sound like that before. In my opinion, this album is one of the most important of the 21st century, and “Runaway” is one of the most perfect pop songs ever written.”

The Glorious Sons is set to kick off their new North American tour on March 13th in Minneapolis, Minnesota. On May 8th, the group will join The Struts for a set of shows as their supporting act. They will also be performing at Hang Out Music Festival (Gulf Shores, AL), Firefly Music Festival (Dover, DE), and the esteemed Reading & Leeds Festivals (U.K.) later this summer.
