Spotify, one of the most popular streaming services, has revealed that The Weeknd has broken the record of most streams in one day. According to the streaming service, the singer broke the record on Saturday.

The singer has recently released his album Starboy. The album was released on November 25 following a short film Mania that introduced the album and its tracks to the fans. The title track from the album with the same name  has already won fans’ heart and is soaring the Global charts.

The song “Starboy” talks about fame and the negatives that come with it. For the track, the singer collaborated with French duo Daft Punk.

Monte Lipman, chairman and co-founder of Republic Records seemed elated by the news. He expressed his delight in a written statement that said, “Spotify’s continued support of The Weeknd has now reached historic proportions and also reinforces the tremendous growth of global streaming”.

Troy Carter, Global Head of Creator Services at Spotify said, “We’re proud to have partnered with The Weeknd, his management, and Republic Records on a phenomenal album. We look forward to breaking even more, records together in the near future.”
