With a great start to Australia’s participation in the Eurovision contest in 2015, this year’s competition will be even more highly anticipated. Crowned the champion of The X Factor Australia’s fifth season, Dami Im has officially been chosen as the representative for Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Announced on stage alongside Eurovision veteran, Conchita Wurst, and Australia’s first Eurovision contestant, Guy Sebastian, Dami Im is said to have been chosen because she is “the perfect artist to capture Europe’s attention with her unique personal style and show-stopping voice.”
While the excitement of her grand achievement is probably insurmountable, Dami will be vigorously preparing for her big debut on the world stage. Unlike last year’s Guy Sebastian, the X Factor alumnus won’t be awarded a wildcard entry directly into the final. Instead, she will rely on votes and an impressive performance in Semi Final 2.
Something tells us she won’t mind putting in the hard yards… She seemed pretty ecstatic to announce the news on Instagram!
As expected, Australians are loving their new representative!
@damiandmusic @SBSEurovision This is such excellent news. Congratulations Dami! A wonderful representative for Australia. Magnifique X
