When Zara Larsson released her new single Ruin My Life it signalled a new musical era and her return to music. She has unveiled the video for the infectiously funky track which is her first solo release since 2017 debut album So Good.
Ruin My Life speaks of an unhealthy relationship, which as Zara says “It’s toxic, but it’s passionate” something which everyone can understand, even if they’ve escaped being in one. Turning an experience that is emotionally draining into a catchy, emotive pop number takes a whole lot of skills reminding us why we’re more in love with Zara than ever. Despite how bad for you, the relationship was you can’t be without it, even if it ‘ruins your life’.
In the video which can be seen below shows her trying to cope without being in the toxic relationship, having everything materialistically you could want but still being lonely. Missing having someone to share dinner with and her ex then sees the footage but we’re left wondering just how it ends? Does she get the happy ending she’s seeking? If you need any more reasons to watch the video, Zara’s outfit changes are exquisite and we need to update our wardrobe immediately.
Since the track was released it’s gained more than 5 million streams on Spotify and fans have been spreading the love for the track across social media. The track is taken from Zara Larsson’s forthcoming second album which is due for release in 2019. We hope this is a sign of things to come from this sassy pop talent.
