A spokesperson reportedly met with the waiting fans and explained that the interview had been cancelled due to a scheduling conflict with a Terry Wogan tribute show. Wogan spent most of his career working for BBC and passed away the night before Malik’s scheduled interview.
Despite word from the spokesperson, the BBC press have confirmed with CelebMix that the cancellation was, indeed, Malik’s doing.
The 23-year-old was set to appear on the show to promote his new single, PILLOWTALK, which was released just a few days prior.
A phone interview will reportedly be scheduled with Malik soon.
Earlier last week, Malik cancelled his appearance on the Graham Norton show. This would have been his first television interview since leaving boyband One Direction in March. A statement cited “scheduling conflicts” as the reasoning behind the cancellation.
Zayn’s debut solo album, Mine of Mine is rumored to be released this March.
