Hailing from Chicago, independent alternative R&B artist ALIAH unveiled the notoriously sultry track “I Want You,” on November 11, which has caught the attention of our music radar. Seamlessly blending her way through alternative music, the Chicago native exemplifies her steadily developing sound and musical style, reflected in her new single.
ALIAH is establishing herself as an artist known for her penchant for DIY, never shying away from conversations on love, and ingrained in a natural flow of creativity, which manifests both in and outside of music. With her calming and inviting soundscapes, this up-and-coming musician has steadily increased her streams and popularity since the release of her debut EP in 2017.
The brand new single, “I Want You,” stems from the experience of being ghosted by a potential new love interest that serves as the inspiration for this latest song, encapsulating the human emotional spectrum as it spans the craving we feel for love. It adorns the singer’s hush yet heavenly vocals and melodic lyrics beautifully, backed by an eclectic, echoing instrumentation.
The single explores how the vocalist felt after six days of receiving no communication from someone she felt sparks and sparkles with, combined with an immensely laid-back and relaxing ambience with a resonant message. It is intimate in its analysis of the desire to continue to be loved by that person despite the little sting of their disregard.
