American Horror Story: Lily Rabe Is Checking in to the Hotel

With the premiere of American Horror Story: Hotel less than 2 months away, fans have finally gotten more answers to who will be showing face this season. In a recent panel for FX’s summer press tour, creative and executive producer Ryan Murphy confirmed that Lily Rabe will be returning for the show’s Halloween episode, ‘Devil’s Night’, and this time to portray American serial killer, Aileen Wuornos. In the panel Ryan said, “I can’t give this to anybody else,” and we couldn’t agree more.

In past seasons Lily has played a range of characters, from Nora Montgomery in Murder House to Sister Mary Eunice in Asylum. Apart from a small Asylum flashback during Freak Show, Lily’s most recent appearance was as the mystical hippie witch, Misty Day, in AHS: Coven. It goes as no surprise that Murphy would choose Lily to portray Aileen, as she has a great ability to tap into and display a wide range of emotions.

Aileen Wuornos is famously known for killing seven men in Florida between 1989 and 1990, making her the first woman ever to fit the FBI’s description of a serial killer. The only other notable time Wuornos has been portrayed in film or TV was Charlize Theron’s portrayal of her in the 2003 film Monster. While Rabe might take inspiration from the movie, this will be a great opportunity for her to film her own fresh take on the character.

Other actors set to check in to the Hotel include Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Finn Wittrock, Chloë Sevigny, Wes Bentley, Cheyenne Jackson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Sarah Paulson, and Evan Peters.

American Horror Story: Hotel premieres October 7th on FX.
