Anne-Marie has released her new single ‘To Be Young’ featuring Doja Cat. Along with a video for the track, highlighting what can be created from the artists own homes.

‘To Be Young’ sings of the highs and the lows we go through whilst growing up and the pressures being faced. We’re also reminded that a pinky promise is the ultimate form of promise; “pinky promise things will stay the same“. Once again Anne-Marie’s signature, emotive vocals shine through with a big, sing-along chorus to complete the track “Fall in love, broken heart, break the rules, drink too much. We’re all a mess, but I guess this is what it feels like to be young”. Complimenting vocals from Doja Cat shine on the self-penned verse, helping to confirm that this might be our favourite collaboration of 2020 so far. You just know this will become a live highlight when Anne-Marie is able to perform live shows once again.

The video for the track sees Anne-Marie and Doja Cat showing off their two sides – the glitz/glamour and the casual/stripped-back side with all of us having the ability to do both. We see Anne-Marie performing around her kitchen, drinking champagne in a bathtub and skateboarding on a balcony in a bathrobe but along with this the tears which come with the fun. Whilst Doja Cat reaches out to the viewer, enjoying her own company but also that of a loveable Dalmatian. We admit it really does make us question if we’re spending our alone time wrong! Shot at home during lockdown it was directed once again by Hannah Lux Davis with creative direction provided by Kate Moross. You can check out the video below:

Alongside the video and single release, a new range of merch is available on Anne-Marie’s webstore. Designed by Kate Moross who also previously worked on the ‘Birthday’ single campaign, a percentage of the proceeds will be donated to African Rainbow Family. The charitable organisation provides support to LGBTIQ people of African heritage and wider Black Asian Minority Ethnic groups. Meaning that not only do you get a snazzy piece of new merch but in the process, you’re helping a great cause!

‘To Be Young’ marks the official start of the #AM2 era, following on from the release of ‘Birthday‘ in February and we have a feeling that we’ll be hearing plenty more from Anne-Marie in the coming months. The track is taken from her upcoming album, which as of yet few details are known about. However, fans have been patiently waiting for a follow-up to 2018 debut ‘Speak Your Mind’ and it looks like they won’t have to wait too much longer.

‘To Be Young’ featuring Doja Cat is out now and can be downloaded/streamed here.
