Aysel Mammadova, better known professionally as Aisel is a singer from Azerbaijan. Many of her family are musicians and because of this, the singer began performing at a young age. She attended a special music school, as well as a music school in Baku called the Azerbaijan State Conservatory. Over the years she has released a number of singles and has performed in various European countries including Switzerland and Italy to name a few.
In November last year, she became one of the first representatives to be announced for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest. The news was announced by broadcaster Ictimai Television who internally selected Aisel to be Azerbaijan’s representative. At the beginning of March, the song she will be performing on stage in Lisbon – “X My Heart” – was released. The song has a pretty laid back feel but is also incredibly catchy. Azerbaijan will be the first country to perform on stage at Lisbon in the first semi-final on 8 May.
