The singer graduated from Tallinn French School in 2011, and later from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in 2016 with a master’s degree in classical singing.
In 2009, whilst studying, Elina auditioned for the third season of Eesti otsib superstaari, however, failed to make it past the preliminary rounds. Four years later, Elina participated in Klassikatähed 2014 and made it all the way to the final of the competition. Last year, alongside Marko Reikop, Elina hosted the semi-final of Eesti Laul 2017, Estonia’s national selection to choose a representative for the Eurovision Song Contest. Koit Toome and Laura went on to win the contest with their song “Verona”.
In February this year, Elina was one of twenty artists to compete in Eesti Laul 2018, with her song “La Forza” (or Force in English). Once again, in the final, Elina topped both the jury and televote, gaining a place in the Superfinal of the contest, where only the public could vote. She stormed to victory with 70% of the public vote and won the honour of representing her country at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon.
