The two met in a bar ten years ago and officially put Madame Monsieur together in 2013. Since then the duo has released their debut album Tandem (released in 2016) and various singles including “You Make Me Smile” which was composed for rapper Youssoupha.

In January, Madame Monsieur was announced as one of the participants for Destination Eurovision, France’s national selection show to choose a representative for the Eurovision Song Contest. They performed their song “Mercy” in the second semi-final of the competition and advanced to the grand final of the competition. In the final, they only came third with the juries but stormed into first place with the televote, resulting in them winning the competition. As part of the big five, France automatically qualifies for the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest, and will, therefore, perform “Mercy” next Saturday in Lisbon.
