Kostyantyn Mykolayovych Bocharov, better known by his stage name MÉLOVIN, was born in Odessa, Ukraine to parents Valentina Bocharova and Nikolay Bocharov. He attended music school before graduating from theatre school.
Before getting his big break, MÉLOVIN auditioned for the X Factor Ukraine on three separate occasions, failing to make it on to the televised show. However, not one to be knocked down easily, he returned to the show in 2015 where he impressed the judges and went on to win the sixth season of the competition.
Early last year, the singer was announced as a participant at Vidbir 2017, Ukraine’s national selection show to select a representative for the Eurovision Song Contest. He performed the song “Wonder” and was the viewers favourite, coming top of the televote in both his semi-final and the grand final, however, he only finished the competition in third place overall.
The singer released his first EP Face to Face in November last year, which included his Vidbir 2017 song “Wonder”, as well as songs “Unbroken” and “Hooligan”.
MÉLOVIN returned to Vidbir this year, once again competing for the honour of representing his country at the Eurovision Song Contest. This time he performed the song “Under The Ladder” advancing to the finals after winning the televote for the second year running. After topping the televote in the final and finishing second with the juries, he won the competition. He will perform in the second semi-final in Lisbon.
