Korean supergroup, BTS, has reached yet another groundbreaking achievement. On Wednesday, April 10th, the septet officially racked up 5 BILLION total streams on Spotify, becoming the first and only Asian act to do so.
BTS has proven time and time again that they are champions when it comes to streams. At the end of 2018, Spotify rolled out their top songs and artists for the year, where they announced that BTS was the streaming platform’s second most-streamed group of 2018, just behind Imagine Dragons. Then, on Monday, April 8th, BTS member J-Hope surpassed G-Dragon to become the most-followed Korean solo artist on Spotify with 1.36 million followers respectively.
The exciting news comes just two days before the group makes their comeback with new album Map of The Soul: Persona and the title track, “Boy With Luv.” Earlier today, Big Hit Entertainment, the group’s label, released the second teaser for the music video, revealing an old-school theme for the video with big-budget performances and fast-paced choreography. The company released the first teaser on Sunday, announcing that Halsey would be a feature on the track.
The group is expected to perform new music when they make their Saturday Night Live debut this weekend on April 13th. Emma Stone will host BTS’ episode and based on a new SNL promo shown on TV, the actress seems pretty excited to meet the guys.
After their Saturday Night Live performance, BTS will embark on their Love Yourself: Speak Yourself stadium world tour.
