Following our exclusive interview with CID, we are honoured to premiere his brand new collaborative single “Money”. The song is a collaboration with Bahary where they’ve refreshed the classic track of the same name, originally by The Flying Lizards.
CID, real name Carlos Cid, is definitely making waves in the music industry. He is a DJ and producer and has already won a Grammy Award, thanks to his production of Cedric Gervais’ remix of Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness”. He most-recently dropped an EP titled, “Bad For Me”, which we chatted with him about in the exclusive interview that we published yesterday. For this track, he teamed up with Bahary. Real name Greg Bahary, he’s known for being one-half of production duos Hot22 and Live Element (with Chris Malinchak). The Flying Lizards originally released this song back in 1979 where it hit charts around the world, the best peak position being number five in the UK and New Zealand.
Of the song, CID said: “For ‘Money’, Bahary and I got in the studio with the idea that we wanted to make something quirky and fun for the clubs. Bahary is a sample wizard, so we started going through some ideas and when he played The Flying Lizards – ‘Money’, I knew we could do something super fresh with it! The icing on the cake was that the original came out on Virgin EMI / Positiva which was a label that I’ve always wanted to work with.”
Listen To CID & Bahary’s brand new track “Money” Here:
The song totally refreshes the original track. CID and Bahary come together to fully give us something unexpected. This iconic track is still addicting today, but the new version of the song makes it a lot more current.
The musical stamp of CID & Bahary is clear, with these two DJs really making their mark on the song, switching it up so it’s ready to be unleashed at concerts and festivals. We could so see this song hitting dancefloors hard, bringing both nostalgia and new listeners.
“Money” is available to download and stream right now through Positiva/Virgin EMI. We love what they’ve done with the song. We also highly suggest you check out our interview with CID below.
