There is a chilled, dreamy-vibe bass sound at the beginning of the track and as the track continues, ‘Gold’ breaks into an extremely unique chorus, which exemplifies SHOR’s impressive vocals. In fact, SHOR’s vocals are extremely soulful and captivating throughout the track, with a true heartfelt meaning behind his words.
The track sees SHOR continue to prove himself as an impressive singer, songwriter and producer, with a host of exceptional skills.
When speaking about the single’s release, SHOR explains:
“‘Gold’ is about something which I feel will resonate with a lot of people, about working a part-time job in order to fund your dream. Even though sometimes people can be quick to judge, you know that you are more than you might seem. People feel like they have to prove themselves to others and ‘Gold’ is a reflection of that.
I write a lot with my brother, Alex, but this is the first song I’ve released which has been co-written and co-produced by him, which is really exciting for both of us.”
The release of his new single follows on from previous releases ‘Calm Of The Sea’ (his 2017 debut) and ‘Sirens,’ both of which made a big impact, with both tracks also receiving significant media support.
CelebMix had the opportunity to speak with SHOR about his new single, his musical influences, his plans for the rest of the year and more.
You’ve recently released your new single ‘Gold.’ How does it feel to have new music released?
“It’s so exciting! I wrote the song almost a year ago, so it’s great to finally be able to share it.”
How did you first get into music?
“I’ve played the piano from a young age and always loved it, but it was whilst studying music at university that I actually started to write and produce songs and fell in love with that process.”
Who would you say are your musical influences? Do you feel that such influences have an impact on the music you write, produce and release?
“My influences include Jadu Heart, Will Joseph Cook, Sigrid, Rationale and FYFE. I think they do – I like to have references for the kind of song I want to write on a particular day.”
Regarding your plans for 2019, what have you got lined up for the rest of the year? Will there be additional music releases?
“Definitely – releasing more new music and playing live as much as possible.”
