Harry Potter fans have long been desperate to see Daniel Radcliffe play his role as ‘the boy who lived’ once more.
Particularly even more so now as there is an eighth Harry Potter story, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child which has opened as a stage play in London.
Not only that, the upcoming spin-off trilogy Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has Harry Potter lovers excited for more magic on the big screen, this time starring Eddie Redmayne.
But despite these new exciting projects, Daniel Radcliffe’s presence as Harry will be sorely missed as fans have enjoyed his performance for all eight of Warner Bros’ Harry Potter films.
However, although there are no current plans at the moment, Radcliffe has not ruled out possibly playing the young wizard again.
“It would depend on the script,” Radcliffe said, speaking honestly to Radio Times. “The circumstances would have to be pretty extraordinary. But then I am sure Harrison Ford said that with Han Solo and look what happened there! So I am saying, ‘No,’ for now but leaving room to backtrack in the future.”
This comparison is very appropriate as Harrison Ford reprised his famous Han Solo role earlier this year for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, decades after his last appearance in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.
Similarly, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is actually set 19 years after the previous Harry Potter story, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows so perhaps Radcliffe may be interested in playing his character as an older wizard if the play ever gets made into a film especially as the play has been a big hit with fans so far.
Radcliffe spent ten years portraying the young wizard and he still can’t seem to shake Harry off especially as he is now currently meddling with a different kind of magic in Now You See Me 2.
Naturally, fans are comparing Harry and Daniel’s new role in Now You See Me 2 which is about magicians.
“I actually didn’t consider the connection to magic until somebody pointed it out to me,” Radcliffe said. “They were like, ‘You are going to get loads of questions about magic again,’ and I went, ‘Oh, damn, I guess I am!’”
Daniel is currently in Now You See Me 2 in cinemas now!
