Daya has smashed it once again with her latest single, ‘Left Me Yet’.
Combining an irresistible beat with her honest lyricism, the track showcases Daya at her most vulnerable as she struggles with her insecurities in a relationship. ‘Left Me Yet’ is a mature offering from the singer-songwriter which is both emotional yet danceable.
Speaking about the track on Twitter, she said: ‘Left Me Yet’ was written by me, Kennedi and Jason Gill. This song feels so special to me. Wrote in on a day I wasn’t even planning on coming to (the) studio, then Kennedi facetimed me and I hurried over and Jason already had this beat and we had this idea right away and we wrote it so quick. One of those that just flowed naturally. Hope you guys feel this and love it as much as I do.”
Daya has also released a striking visual for ‘Left Me Yet’, which sees her dancing through the pain as she confronts her inner demons in various settings. Check it out below.
‘Left Me Yet’ is the second track to be taken from Daya’s forthcoming sophomore album, following on from ‘Insomnia’. Speaking to the songstress about her upcoming album last year, she said: “I hope people will feel more connected to me as an artist. I definitely open up on this next album – I’m in a new relationship and a new stage in my life. It all feels very natural, and has come together really well. I hope listeners will love it and feel even more connected to me than before.”
Recently, Daya also teamed up with songwriting icon Diane Warren for ‘Forward Motion’, an original song which features in the Amazon Studios film Late Night starring Mindy Kaling and Emma Thompson.
