Emeli Sandé has unveiled the captivating video for her new single Sparrow. The track is her first single to be released since 2017’s Kingdom Coming EP marking a new musical era for the singer.
The video for the tracks takes viewers on a journey highlighting strength, movement and freedom across its four-minute duration. There is a real beauty within simplicity as the focus lies on the messages being spoken through dance. Directed by Sarah McColgan (H.E.R, Charli XCX, Sean Paul) and edited by Ernie Gilbert (This Is America & Atlanta), the video was shot in New York.
Speaking of the video, Emeli said “It was a pleasure to work with Sarah McColgan and her team. I loved her idea as soon as I saw it and I feel so proud of what we were all able to create together. Each woman in this video has their own unique strength and there was a real sense of sisterhood felt throughout the shoot. It’s always exciting filming in New York, it brings a very special electric energy which kept us powered up all day! Even in the snow!”
But it isn’t just visually where this track shines, with the delicate, twinkling of the keys and Sandé’s sincere vocals. Singing of courage and hope even in the darkest times, this is an important track in the singers discography. Working by herself to bring this track to life it has evolved in to an anthemic number to grasp your attention and embed the message deep within. It’s been a while since Emeli Sandé has released new music which makes her return with Sparrow even more exciting.
