“Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke will be switching out dragons for Millennium Falcons after being today announced as part of the cast for the upcoming Star Wars Spin Off movie focusing upon the solo adventures of Han Solo.
Emilia Clarke, who is known for playing Daenerys Targaryan in the hit HBO series, will star as the films female lead opposite Alden Ehrenreich, who beat the likes of Scott Eastwood and Taron Edgerton to win the role of the iconic character. Little is known about her character – not even a name has been given – and it is likely it will remain that way for some time, with the team at Disney and Lucasfilm going to great lengths to keep all things Star Wars under wraps.
The news follows a recent announcement that Donald Glover has been cast to play Lando Calrissian, another of the franchises iconic characters.
The as-yet-untitled film will be directed by duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the masterminds behind “The Lego Movie”, with aims to start shooting in January, and with an expected release of May 2018, though there is a good chance that the film could be pushed back to December of the same year, in keeping with the intended December release of all the other Star Wars films under Disney’s tenure.
