    Here we review the ‘Headfirst’ EP ahead of its April release;

    The new record kicks-off with the infectious ‘What Are We’ which symbolises what is to come from the rest of the five-track EP. It’s a really catchy song with fantastic hooks, and a soaring chorus. Fast sing-along lyrics and great vocals elevate the track and it’s an awesome way to start the ‘Headfirst’ record.

    Up next is the title track ‘Headfirst’ which is another great pop song with fantastic drum and bass and the synths which are becoming a staple of the DC pop-rockers sound. It is another super catchy ear-worm that gets stuck in your head after the first listen and will be a real highlight during their new tour.

    At number three is ‘Emotional’ which sees a shift in sounds from all out pop-rock to a more stripped back pop sound with more thoughtful lyrics but there is still a catchy chorus at the heart and the soaring falsetto is insane. It has a lot of DNCE vibes which is a huge compliment the rising star’s.

    The penultimate track on the EP is the song ‘Miles’ which sees the group kicking it back into high gear with huge choruses and guitar riffs. They pop-rock sound is massive and is tailor-made for festival sing-along’s. This is an insanely huge track that has a great hook and chorus that once again show shades of DNCE.

    The ‘Headfirst’ EP comes to a close with ‘Flashback’ which stars with a toe-tapping beat and hand claps making it a great way to close the record making you want more. There’s no surprise that this was chosen as the first single off the EP as it embodies everything about the collection of songs. It’s a symbol of everything great about Sub-Radio’s pop-rock sound.

    RATING: 4/5.
