Irish quartet Wild Youth – comprising of members David Whelan (vocals/guitars), Conor O’Donohoe (keyboard/vocals), Callum McAdam (drums) and Ed Porter (guitar/vocals) – have unveiled their exceptional debut EP, titled ‘The Last Goodbye.’

The EP is a collection of five original tracks which the four-piece have been working on over the last couple of months. News of the EP’s upcoming release was first announced earlier this month, with Wild Youth sharing that ‘all our blood, sweat and even some tears have been poured into this.’

The release also coincided with the band’s live TV debut, whereby they performed hit single ‘Can’t Move On’ on Ireland’s ‘The Late Late Show.’ You can watch their performance below:

Here at CelebMix, we have reviewed Wild Youth’s ‘The Last Goodbye’ EP. Make sure you keep reading to check out our review!

    ‘Making Me Dance’

This infectiously catchy and upbeat track kicks off the EP and is the perfect introduction to what can be expected from the rest of the EP. Additionally, ‘Making Me Dance’ marked the band’s first release of 2019. There is a particularly strong beat throughout the track, which contributes to the catchiness of the track and inevitably, this is a song that will have you singing and of course, dancing, along!

    ‘Can’t Move On’

‘Can’t Move On’ represents one of Wild Youth’s most successful tracks to date and was released back in 2018. The track lyrically conveys the feeling of being unable to move on from a relationship. To a certain extent, ‘Can’t Move On’ can be described as a happy heartbreak song. You can watch the official music video for the single below:

    ‘Close’

The simplicity of the lyrics fits well with the beat throughout the track. The intimacy of the track is conveyed throughout the lyrics and this track has quickly become a fan favourite with the band’s ever growing dedicated legion of fans. Again, this is another upbeat track, which we absolutely love – making it one of our favourite tracks on the EP!

    ‘Last Goodbye’

This is once again another fantastic track on the EP and in particular, the chorus of this track is a stand-out. The anthemic ‘this is our last goodbye’ is extremely catchy and despite the track having a relatively heartbreaking meaning, Wild Youth’s ability to use a negative experience and plough it into their song-writing is a true testament to their undeniable talent.

    ‘Drinking About You’

‘Drinking About You’ nicely wraps up the EP and each track is consistently impressive. This track is a little more stripped back in comparison to the other tracks on the EP, but is still equally impressive. The lyrics are extremely emotional and will no doubt a strike an emotive chord with listeners.
