We love a good “The Making Of [Insert Music Video Title Here]” video and we’re delighted to be able to premiere this brand new one, titled “The Making Of: ‘The Deep'”. The video takes you behind the scenes of Phildel’s latest animated music video, “The Deep”.
In the video, we are greeted by Youri Dekker who is the animator behind the music video, from the San Francisco area in California. He decided to try freelancing for a while and got in contact with Phildel after coming across some of her music. This collaboration sure did pay off, with Phildel’s haunting track meeting Youri Dekker’s amazing visuals, they take you on a journey like no other.
At just six minutes long, we watch Youri Dekker’s animation process subtly build, showing off his abilities and really capturing the essence of the song and transferring it into a visual context. The video is enlightening, opening up so many viewers into the animation world, giving them rich content that they probably haven’t even seen before – we know we hadn’t.

Phildel is a British singer-songwriter and pianist from London. She gets her name from her Chinese father Philip and her Irish mother Della. When she was nine, her mother married a strictly religious man, and she was banned from listening to music and her name was changed to Zara. A true Cinderella story, she was treated as a servant in her own home, with school being her only break away from her home-life. At the age of 17, she ran away, to focus on her career. She has gone on to release a total of four EPs and two albums, proving she has what it takes to make it in the music industry. This song, “The Deep”, has been taken from her upcoming third studio album, titled “Wave Your Flags”.
