It’s almost time to be Opening Up! Further casting has been announced for the upcoming UK tour of Waitress the Musical.
As previously revealed, theatre royalty Carrie Hope Fletcher will be leading the production as Jenna at select venues. Today, it has been confirmed that she will be joined by Evelyn Hoskins and Sandra Marvin, both of whom will be reprising their roles as Dawn and Becky respectively. Evelyn and Sandra previously played their roles in both the West End productions as well as the 2022 UK tour.
Also joining the cast will be TV legend Les Dennis as Joe. Perhaps best known for presenting Family Fortunes from 1987 to 2002, Les also has a rich history in theatre. Over the years, he has starred in Chicago, Hairspray, Legally Blonde the Musical, as well as The Addams Family alongside Carrie.
Featuring hit songs including ‘She Used to Be Mine’ and ‘It Only Takes a Taste’, Waitress the Musical tells the story of Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker with dreams of some happiness in her life. When a dashing new doctor arrives in town, things get more than a little complicated! However, with the support of her workmates Becky and Dawn, Jenna overcomes the challenges and finds that laughter, love and friendship can provide the perfect recipe for happiness.
The musical was created by a female-led creative team including a score by the Grammy award-winning Sara Bareilles, a book by acclaimed screenwriter Jessie Nelson and direction by Tony® Award-winner Diane Paulus.
The Waitress the Musical UK tour kicks off in Wimbledon on March 28 with further stops including Brighton, Bradford, Woking, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Eastbourne, Glasgow and Salford. Click here for more ticket information.
Carrie will be performing at Wimbledon, Brighton, Bradford, Woking, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Dublin, Manchester, and Cardiff. Casting for additional venues is to be announced.
