Gary Barlow joins the Star Wars cast in Episode VIII

Gary Barlow, from Take That, has landed himself a secret role in the next Star Wars film.

According to reports, Barlow recently filmed scenes as a stormtrooper at Pinewood Studios last week. A source said, “Gary is a huge Star Wars fan so this is a dream come true for him. The process has been kept top secret, as he doesn’t want anybody to find out.”

Gary will follow names such as Daniel Craig, who was also listed as Stormtrooper JB-007 in ‘The Force Awakens’.

The singer has previously revealed that the original ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’ is his favourite movie, so it should come as no surprise that he’s bagged himself a part in the latest film through his connections in the film industry.

He’s had a brief acting career so far with cameos on the ITV drama ‘Heartbeat’,’ Keith Lemon: The Film’ and ‘Miranda’, but this will be his most high-profile guest appearance to date, despite being hidden behind a mask. At this stage, it’s unclear as to whether or not he’ll have a speaking role.

Stormtroopers are anonymous so there’s no telling which famous faces could be running around fighting for the First Order, but what we do know is that one of those faces will be Gary, and two will be members of The Royal Family: Princes William and Harry.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Tom Hardy is also set to appear. His character will recognize Finn from behind during a brief scene and, thinking he’s still a fellow member of the First Order, mistakenly congratulate him on his promotion to Resistance Infiltrator.

The main actors are currently heading to Ireland to shoot some of the major scenes of the film.

Episode VIII is yet to be given an official title but its December 2017 release is tipped to repeat the success of The Force Awakens, which raked in £1.5billlion at the global box office.

Star Wars: Episode VIII will continue where Episode VII left off, with Rey returning Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber to him, a weapon that’s been missing since Episode V.
