Hayley Williams is here! The Paramore frontwoman has released her debut solo single “Simmer”, and has also dropped the official music video for it.

“Simmer” is a catchy indie pop influenced song, which Hayley wrote alongside her Paramore bandmate Taylor York and their touring member Joey Howard. Taylor also helped to produce the track.

Lyrically, Hayley sings about dealing with her anger and how she controls it. The track follows her as she goes through feelings of rage, anxiety and depression.

The music video for the song has also premiered, and there is a LOT to take in. A naked Hayley running through a forest, entering a strange-looking mansion and covering herself in a brown paste and then ‘killing’ another version of herself. It’s a dark, atmospheric video that helps capture the mood of the song very well.

This is Hayley’s first solo single, but it’s not the first time that she has released music outside of Paramore. Most of you will remember her collaborations with rapper B.o.B. on “Airplanes” in 2010 and DJ Zedd on “Stay the Night” in 2013 – and she also previously released two solo songs – “Teenagers” on the soundtrack to the film Jennifer’s Body in 2009, and “Nineteen” – a cover of a Tegan & Sara song for a tribute album in 2017.

Hayley has also confirmed that she will be releasing her first ever solo album! Titled “Petals For Armor”, the album will be released on 8th May. And she has also confirmed that she will be touring for the album too!

In a statement, Hayley shared: “I made this with some of the closest people to me. Their respective talents really shine bright throughout the record.

“I like to think we all make each other better and the result if something that sounds and FEELS exactly as I’d hoped it would. Now that it’s time to put it all out there, I can finally exhale.

“I’m excited to let people in to experience a different side of myself that I’ve only very recently become familiar with.”
