Icona Pop wanted to enter the new year right and decided to jump-start it the one way they know best: by partying. And by making a bang(er).
The Swedish electro-pop duo, known for creating chart-topping hits such as “I Love It”, have decided to revisit the musical style that made them famous with their first release of the new year.
Their latest song is titled “This Is How We Party” and takes us all the way back to the 90’s and then back all the way back again to the clubs of today. Featuring acclaimed DJ R3HAB, who has been called “the future of the craft” by Forbes and Billboard, the Swedes have produced a party anthem like no other. And probably their best song since, dare we say, “I Love It”.
“This Is How We Party” is a track that will bring joy to the ears and hearts of 90s kids and today’s generation alike as it heavily interpolates the 90’s original by S.O.A.P and turns it into a 21st century festival banger. “As kids brought up in the 90s, we wanted to honor this party anthem (…) that feels as awesome today as it did back then“, Icona Pop state in a press release.
This latest track features the girls scream-singing the original chorus in the ways known and loved from their early days over an updated electro beat. Positive vibes only seems to be the motto for this track as the vocals are intertwined with a feel-good blend of breezy instrumentals and climax in an upbeat breakdown.
Talking about the collaboration, R3HAB mentioned that “I’ve been a fan of Icona Pop ever since their first record release and I’m so excited to have a collab with them. This track was so fun to make and I hope everyone enjoys the positive vibe that it stands for.” Icona Pop agree with him by saying that “this collaboration with R3HAB felt like a perfect match and bridge over to what dance music is today.“
