Swedish electro-pop duo I Am Karate have released a new single, which pays homage to the late actor Patrick Swayze.
‘Swayze’ is a mesmeric, beat-driven soundscape which pulls together elements of indie-pop, R&B and hip hop. I Am Karate – made up of Erika Soldh Ahlström and Marta Petterson – released the electro track on August 18, the late star’s birthday.
The song includes references to Ghost, one of the star’s most famous movies, with lyrics such as “I don’t want to, wanna to haunt you, I got my own ghosts”, and “I’m like Patrick Swayze, it’s like you see straight through me”.

The Swedish duo have already garnered success in their home country as well as across the world. Their previous single ‘Bitter’ has clocked up almost a million plays on Spotify, and they were nominated for the Best Unsigned Award at the GAFFA Awards earlier this year.
I Am Karate are already being called out as the best new talent coming from Sweden, and there is no doubt that ‘Swayze’ is set to win them even more fans globally.
