The song will receive it’s premiere first play on 1 Xtra this coming Thursday evening, and will be released immediately after.
Against All Odds: The N-Dubz story so far…
After bursting on the scene back in 2006, following the release of their debut single ‘You Better Not Waste My Time’, N-Dubz became a “cultural phenomenon”, who for 6 years dominated both the U.K. charts and media like no other British hip-hop collective had before.
Originally called “Lickle Rinsers Crew”, cousins Tula Paulinea Contostavlos and Costadinos Contostavlos along with bandmate Richard ‘Fazer’ Rawson (the trio met as teenagers whilst attending Quintin Kynaston School in St. John’s Wood, London) first caught the publics attention following their appearance on Channel 4’s Dubplate Drama, before going on to release a string of singles that gained traction on pirate radio.
After changing their name to N-Dubz, the group began to experience modest chart success with the independently released singles ‘You Better Not Waste My Time’, ‘I Swear’ and ‘Feva Las Vegas’ on LRC Records.
In 2007, the group won the Best Newcomer Award at the MOBOs ahead of the launch of their debut album ‘Uncle B’. Two years later the group would achieve their first No.1 single in the U.K. with ’Number One’ featuring Tinchy Strider and release their second album ‘Against All Odds’. Reaching No.6 in the charts, and featuring collaborations with Wiley and Mr. Hudson, the record went onto achieve Platinum sales status in the U.K. and saw the group win their fourth MOBO Award for Best Song with ‘Playing With Fire’.
Following the release of their third, and to date, final album ‘Love.Live.Life’ the band announced they were to go on an indefinite hiatus, with each member going on to pursue various careers of varying degrees within music, television and entertainment.
