Jessica Chastain is the latest star to be possibly joining the X-Men cast for Dark Phoenix.
Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Sophie Turner, James McAvoy and Nicholas Hoult have been confirmed to be returning.
Simon Kinberg was the writer and producer for X-Men: Apocalypse and X-Men: Days of Future Past and this time he will direct.
Dark Phoenix will be shot in Montreal and Kinerg is also being joined by Hutch Parker and Lauren Shuler Donner.
Fox announced back in April that three Marvel movies will be released in 2018: Deadpool 2 (June 1st), X-Men spinoff The New Mutants (April 13th) and Dark Phoenix (November 2nd).
Dark Phoenix will focus on the telepathic Jean Grey, played by Sophie Turner and the terrifying cosmic energy called the Phoenix Force.
Fans saw a snippet of Grey’s full power at the end of X-Men: Apocalypse and are eager to see more.
This time the story would concentrate on the 1976-77 comic book series ‘Uncanny X-Men’ where Grey is exposed to deadly radiation.
It is thought that Jessica Chastain would play Lilandra in this series, who heads an alien empire called the Shi’ar.
Also returning to the cast will be Apocalypse stars Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Alexandra Shipp.
James McAvoy, known as Professor X, seemingly confirmed Chastain’s role with a throwback to Days of Future Past on Instagram.
So, we think Chastain will be a great addition to the X-Men cast and we can’t wait to see her play the character.
