Pop-rock singer-songwriter Joshua McCooey releases his emotion-laden single/music video, “Spark My Heart,” a song about learning to love again.
After his school’s homecoming dance, deluged by an array of profound emotions, Joshua began writing lyrics expressing the hollowness and aching yearning in his heart. Collaborating with producer AJ Hicks, they created a slow, poignant song dripping with deep feelings.
“Your hair, your lips, your eyes / That smile of yours, that light pink sweater / At night we fireflies / If you were there you would shine brighter / Now I believe you can do anything / You proved it when you sparked my heart again.”
Joshua’s musical creativity grew out of his family’s passion for the arts. Through constant encouragement, his father inspired Joshua to develop his interest in music. Early on, Joshua participated in musical theatre. Since then, he has continued to enhance his gifts.
Originally from the Bay Area of San Francisco, the 17-year-old Joshua is currently studying at the prestigious Joffrey Ballet School.
Along with Joshua’s evocative vocals, “Spark My Heart” features the talents of Jerry Becker (keyboards), Jeff Campitelli (drums, percussion), James De Prato (acoustic guitar, electric guitar), and Uriah Duffey (bass).
“Spark My Heart” opens on low-slung emerging tones, suffused with longing, quixotic surfaces. A smoldering organ gives the tune a soft, burning sensation, revealing overpowering desire. The tempo glides on an affecting beat as Joshua’s voice imbues the lyrics with fervent ardor. A hunger-enflamed guitar solo infuses the harmonics with throbbing, heart-aching hues.
Drenched in the wistfulness of deep-seated love, “Spark My Heart” provides listeners with a potent emotional experience.
